Live like a gourmand at Christmas in Paris

Live like a gourmand at Christmas in Paris

At Christmas, Paris turns into a gourmet capital. The Salon Noël Gourmand is back from December 15 to 18, 2017 and top Parisian chefs compete to offer the most enticing and creative selection of festive treats. As the end of the year approaches, the capital is transformed into a jewel and its streets and decorated monuments become a magical show!

Salon Noël Gourmand pays homage to luxury gastronomy

Salon Noël Gourmand celebrates its 5th edition this year. Each year has proven more successful than the previous and this specialised show celebrates all the pleasures of high-end gastronomy. After successful installations at the Palais Brongniart and then the Carrousel du Louvre, the Salon Noël Gourmand will take over the Cité de la Fashion and Design, one of the city’s most prestigious sites, from 15 to 18 December 2017.

This exceptional show is a rendezvous for some of the best artisans in France as well as over a hundred producers and experts in luxury gastronomy. This unique temporary grocery store is filled with inspiring products that will give you lots of ideas for your end of year celebrations. You will have the chance to meet, among others, Hugues Lataste, a renowned cheesemaker from Gironde who is known for reviving ancient cheese recipes. Or, Sébastien Metoyer, a chocolate maker famous for unusual chocolate creations that feature plant essences or condiments. Perhaps you’ll bump into Arnold Martillac and his morels from Chilean Patagonia or Patrick Chauchard, a Breton who is renowned for his delicious smoked salmon. You will meet many producers of foie gras, caviar, teas, confectionery – not to mention the winemakers who create our finest wines and champagnes. All of them have a story that will make your mouth water and you can sample some of their products for free at their stands.

The Parisian chefs have “burned” their logs!

Chef’s logs are back, allowing us to celebrate Christmas as it should. This integral part of the Christmas meal reminds us that once, on the longest night of the year, a huge log was burned. These imaginative creations are a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds and this years are sure to delight gourmands. But which will you choose?

The 2017 selection includes Christophe Michalak’s “rock log” a crunchy coconut praline wrapped in creamy dark chocolate in the shape of a guitar.

We also like Pierre Hermé’s selection including a limited edition called “log bark” that blends Viennese chocolate biscuit, raspberry compote and a delicious whipped cream with dark chocolate and raspberry.

Your 2017 gourmet journey isn’t over – it continues with Joël Veyssière’s “Douceur du Grand Nord” composed of succulent pockets of crème brûlée à l’orange and vanilla mousse and the “éclair de bois” log by Christophe Adam.

Christmas lights, an enchanting sight!

At the end of the year, the City of Light dazzles with thousands of sparkling lights. The capital’s Christmas illuminations are a magical sight and they attract visitors from all over the world. Multi-coloured light bulbs, shooting stars, flickering fairy lights and bright torches create a luminous festival among the trees that line the Avenue des Champs Elysees. Place Vendome, Avenue Montaigne, Faubourg Saint-Honore, Bercy Village, Montmartre and many other parts of the capital are transformed for the occasion. Boulevard Haussmann, one of the most famous shopping destinations in Paris, will also be decked in lights from the 1st of December. The boulevard’s illuminations include the windows of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, glittering showcases that compete for magic and creativity each year.

Enjoy the magic of Christmas during your stay at Hotel Doisy Etoile!
