Fashion Week; discover the spring / summer 2018 trends
Fashion Weeks present a new aspect every season. The largest fashion houses reveal their new trends to the press and buyers and ignite the catwalks during a week full of surprises. Firstly, there is Men’s Fashion Week, which runs this year from January 16th to 21st, while from January 22nd to 25th it’s the turn of Haute Couture. The runways will greet the newest collection of the American duo Proenza Schouler. This year will also thrill to the latest creations of the Moroccan Noureddine Amir, inspired by the work of Yves Saint-Laurent, as well as those of Azzaro Couture, rejuvenated under the leadership of designer Maxime Simoens, without forgetting the work of the Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko.
The Musée Yves Saint-Laurent; the former fashion house opens its doors
Opened at the end of 2017, the Musée Yves-Saint-Laurent immerses visitors in the heart of the old couture house and demonstrates the creative process of the legendary fashion designer who died in 2008. This museum dreamed of by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé has finally come into being, and is established in a Second Empire mansion where the designer’s teams worked for three decades.
From 1982, the fashion designer marked certain pieces ‘Musée’ to preserve them for posterity. Today, the museum occupies an area of over 450 m2, boasting more than 5,000 prototype dresses, clothes, sketchbooks, original sketches such as that of the first tuxedo for women from the autumn-winter 1966 haute couture collection, photos, videos and many personal items.
You can discover the plate of the historic office of Bergé, visit the salons formerly open to customers, and enter the office-studio of the couturier, the nerve centre where the collections were designed. This inner sanctum has been preserved just as the designer left it, with his desk bearing photos of his famous female friends such as Catherine Deneuve in her iconic white coat, along with coloured sketches that could have been drawn just yesterday…
