Discover the covered passages of Paris

With their elegant beauty and special atmosphere, the covered passages are perfect for discovering the kind of charm and ambiance that Parisians enjoy. From the most elegant to the most popular, from trendy shops to the studios of artisans and artists, to intimate tea rooms and cosy bistros, here's a selection of these enchanting arcades of Paris.

The covered passages; elegance and the art of living

Let's start with some of the most famous of these early shopping arcades, such as the Galerie Colbert. Reputed to be the oldest covered passage in Paris, it has a beautiful rotunda lit by a dome and supported by graceful columns.

Don’t miss the opulent atmosphere of the Galerie Véro-Dodat, close to the Louvre and home to numerous fine antique shops and art galleries.

If you love toys and scale models, visit the Passage des Princes. Dominated by a superb glass roof duplicating the 19th century original, it gives the impression of stepping back into time.

Special places to experience

The covered passages are also true places of life where busy and trendy shoppers meet, foodies head in search of a famous bistro and collectors passionate about books or the work of artisans go browsing.

The Passage Verdeau boasts some intriguing shops where you can find little treasures, while the Passage du Grand-Cerf is a great place to go antique hunting.

As the Passage Brady, fondly referred to as Little India, here you can find a feast of Indian and Asian cuisine. Each time you enter a covered passage it’s new adventure, full of surprises!

Our team at your Hotel Doisy Etoile will be happy to tell you about their favourite covered passages and how to get there. Treat yourself to unusual, friendly and intriguing experiences and escape the bustle of the streets and, perhaps, shelter from the weather!
